堪薩斯皇家6日客場與克里夫蘭印地安人進行4連戰最終役，先發投手克里斯楊只投了4.2局就挨了4支全壘打，王建民在球隊0比5落後時登板，用了6球結束該半局，但比賽接著因雨中斷3小時，恢復比賽後建仔沒有再續投，連續8場無責失，自責分率下修至2.08。

克里斯楊前4局先丟2分，投到5局下時更被納昆、C.山塔納和林鐸接連轟出3支陽春炮，4.2局丟5分退場，之後皇家換上王建民接替，用了6球讓納波里擊出一壘方向滾地球製造3出局，成功幫球隊止血。

比賽打完6局上碰上大雨攪局而中斷3小時，因等待時間太長，繼續進行後兩隊都換投，王建民沒有再上場，改由亞歷山大接手。此戰建仔面對1個人次，只投0.1局是他大聯盟生涯最短出賽局數急需現金怎麼辦 ，最快球速91英哩(約146公里)，連續8場出賽無責失也讓自責分率再下降。

皇家此戰以0比7被完封，系列戰遭橫掃，不僅沒能搶回美聯中區龍頭寶座，還與5連勝的印地安人拉開1.5場勝差。
